This laboratory study highlighted the presence of pesticide residues in cola drinks. This study led to the setting-up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), the fifth in the history of India. The JPC report led to the setting-up of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
